You’ll find fun times at the BASC during our Special Events. Throughout the year we coordinate Special Events to celebrate holidays, special occasions, and you. Make sure to look at our monthly newsletter for Special Events and other programs.
As a non-profit organization, the BASC holds fundraisers throughout the year that are fun and some are even yummy! Thank you to all who donate to the BASC. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. We couldn’t do it without your support! If you are interested in learning more on how you can donate, check out our fundraisers below. The BASC is a 501c3 charitable non-profit and your donation is deductible as provided by law. Special Events
Grandkids' Day
Grandparents bring their Grandchildren to the BASC for a fun day of games, food, and entertainment. This is a free event!
Halloween Party
Dress in your favorite Halloween costume and stop over at the BASC’s Halloween Party, where you will have a spooky time. Enjoy snacks and play games/bingo with friends.
Holiday Party
Gather with your friends at the BASC, have conversations, laugh until your belly hurts, and enjoy a potluck luncheon. Have your photo taken with Santa! There are also door prizes and more!
Memorial Day Parade
The Buchanan Area Senior Center participates in the annual Memorial Day parade in downtown Buchanan. Senior Center staff and volunteers drive our vehicle and walk alongside as we distribute candy to the crowd.
New Year's Party
Ring in the New Year at the BASC with a dance and a toast of a sparkling beverage and countdown to yell out loud, “Happy New Year!” The party is during BASC hours.
Senior Picnic
The BASC offers a free annual picnic for patrons to socialize, laugh, talk with friends. Enjoy a delicious lunch, and then join in the fun playing bingo and winning door prizes. Registration is required and you must have a ticket to attend. The Senior Picnic typically takes place in August. Be sure to check the BASC August newsletter for more information.
Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
This day is set aside annually during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, to honor and offer thanks to our volunteers with a dinner, door prizes, and awards program.

Annual Holiday Bazaar
The BASC Annual Holiday Bazaar gives artists and crafters a chance to rent tables, show off their arts and crafts for the community to admire and purchase. Support your local makers while doing your holiday shopping and find one-of-a-kind gifts for your holiday shopping list. The bazaar is held either in November or December. Be sure to check our newsletter or facebook page for the BASC Holiday Bazaar date.
Bakeless Bakesale
Bakeless Bakesale Fundraiser takes place every January. Just as it sounds, this is a way for people to contribute without going through the burden of having to bake something. The sum of the ingredients or any amount of contribution is always greatly appreciated.
Building Fund Donations
Donate to our Building fund for maintenance and improvements and help keep the BASC looking beautiful.
Farmers' Market Bake Sale
The BASC sells baked goods at the Buchanan Farmers’ Market one Saturday per month during the months of June, July and August. The dates are listed in the newsletter. You may also help by providing baked goods for the BASC to sell at the Farmers’ Market. Call 269-695-7119 to learn more.
Harding's Community Awards Program
Each time you shop at Harding’s Friendly Markets you raise funds for the BASC through the Community Awards Program. Not signed up? Please follow the steps below to earn cash for the BASC AND save you money with coupons and earn free products. 1. Visit www.Hardings.com/community-rewards 2. Click on the Click Here to Sign Up Button 3. Enter your information to register 4. Click MY REWARDS and Sign Up 5. Click Community Rewards, find Buchanan Area Senior Center and click Add. 6. When checking out at the register, simply type in your 10-digit phone number on the pin pad.
In Kind Donations
In-Kind Donation is you gifting the BASC an item that you think may help the center serve our mission, so give us a call at 269-695-7119 to discuss. For example, we have a loan closet of items, many that have been donated, that help our elders with physical challenges and so forth, such as shower chairs, wheel chairs, canes, etc.
Memorial Tree/Tribute Tree to Fundraisers
Honor a spouse, parent, grandparent, or friend by purchasing a leaf that will be engraved with your loved one’s name and displayed on the Memorial Tree inside the BASC. Another way to honor your loved one is to plant a Tribute Tree at the BASC through our partnership with Buchanan Tree Friends. Call 269-695-7119 for more information.
Our Family Label Refund
Spartan/Nash grocery stores, including Harding’s and Martin’s, provides this program for non-profits to earn a little extra money collecting UPC codes from labels on Spartan and Our Family products. Cut out the UPC codes from the package and bring them into the BASC. We’ll do the rest!
Program/General Fund Donations
Donate toward your favorite programs or toward the General Fund to help us enhance our programs.
Pumpkin Roll Fundraiser
Volunteers make Pumpkin Rolls in the BASC kitchen to sell at this annual fundraiser. Pumpkin Roll orders begin in October. Call 269-695-7119 to place your order!
