Buchanan Area Senior Center is a community focal point on aging, where area older adults come together for services, programs and activities that reflect their experiences and skills, respond to their diverse needs and interests, enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement with the community and this daytime senior community center. The Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving older adults living in Buchanan City, Buchanan Township and Niles Township west of the US31 Bypass, Bertrand Township, Galien Township east of Cleveland Ave. Membership is free and most services are provided at no cost, however contributions are greatly appreciated .
Buchanan Area Senior Center provides a complete facility, a friendly and efficient staff, and active volunteers that enhance the quality of life of seniors in our community. We offer programs and services designed to promote physical, social, and mental well-being, including exercise, recreation, and crafts, as well as Senior Nutrition Services, food commodities, and a Senior Community Garden.
Senior Centers offer the opportunity for older people to stay connected, informed, and actively engaged in charting their own course in the self-management of chronic conditions, long term care, health maintenance, and as contributing members of the community through civic engagement and volunteer opportunities
Currently the Center is supported by county millage, a transportation grant from Region IV Area Agency on Aging, contributions, fundraising projects, pledges and many wonderful volunteers who we greatly appreciated.
